AIMS
People to People International aims to foster international understanding through direct people-to-people contacts. The European Youth Exchange "Agents for Change - Creating Successful Projects and Initiatives" will enable participants to form lasting friendships with peers from different countries, share experiences regarding the implementation of humanitarian projects and prepare a manual for young people about how to create successful projects and initiatives. Participants will enhance their intercultural skills in various interactive workshops and support and empower each other in their service projects.
Detailed Objectives:
- Empower and motivate young people to take initiative and carry out humanitarian projects
- Develop and realize humanitarian projects based on the needs of the own local community
- Document the humanitarian projects step-by-step and create a user-friendly manual for young people about how to create successful projects and initiatives
- Encourage an open atmosphere and the building of team spirit among the international participants
- Increase participants’ knowledge and appreciation of one another’s culture
- Enhance participants’ intercultural skills and tolerance
- Raise awareness of stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination and find ways to overcome them
- Inform participants about the Programme YOUTH IN ACTION and its opportunities
- Foster mutual support and cooperation among the international participants and encourage the formation of long-term friendship
PARTICIPANTS
The European Youth Exchange "Agents for Change - Creating Successful Projects and Initiatives" will bring together 28 participants from predetermined partner organizations in seven different countries. Each group should consist of four members ages 15-17 (at the time of the forum) and one group leader (at least 21 years old).
The partner organizations select the participants for their respective groups according to the following criteria:
- English-language skills
- motivation to realize own humanitarian projects and take part in the youth exchange for its full duration
- age (15-17 years-old at the time of the youth exchange)
In addition, partners should aim for a gender balance in the group as well as the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities.
The working language of the exchange is English. A sufficient command of English is necessary to benefit from the project.
GROUP LEADERS

Group leaders need fulfill the following criteria:
- be at least 21 years-old
- have sufficient English language skills
- be willing to take part in the preparatory meeting (April 27-29) and the youth exchange (July 20-27) for its full duration
- have experience as teacher or group leader and be familiar with relevant national laws involved in accompanying a group of minors
The parents of all participants have to certify their approval of the group leader in the application form with their signature.
The group leader will assist the participants in the organization and documentation of a humanitarian project prior to the exchange. He/she takes an active role in the preparation and implementation of the youth exchange, accompanies the group during the travel to and from Berlin and supervises the group in all project phases.
The group leader does not pay any participation fee. His/her travel costs are reimbursed to 100%.
ACCOMMODATIONS AND COSTS
Accommodations will be at the Youth Hostel Berlin Wannsee in rooms of four for the students and in double rooms for the group leaders.
The participation fee of 100 Euros includes accommodations, board and all activities during the forum. The fee is due upon arrival in Berlin. Advance payments are not necessary.
Participants will receive a partial reimbursement of their travel costs (up to 70% of the actual costs) upon presentation of their original plane, train or bus tickets and receipts at arrival. The maximum amount in Euros that can be reimbursed per country will be communicated after the selection of groups has been completed. Please note that participants have to cover at least 30% of the travel costs themselves.
Visa costs can be reimbursed upon presentation of receipts or invoices up to a maximum of 60 Euros per person. Please contact the German embassy or consulate in your country to learn about visa regulations. Upon request, PTPI will issue invitations.

- Meet and exchange in Berlin with like-minded young people from 7 different countries.
