International Visitors
The International Visitors Program is a cultural interaction experience
in which members of PTPI's worldwide chapters are offered the
opportunity to meet members of chapters in other countries and
experience their way of life.
This is done through host chapter members who provide Homestays for visitors from other countries by inviting them into their homes to spend time with them for a few days. In return, the host families get the chance to come in contact with people from other nations, which helps to create a mutual understanding of each other's culture.
The School and Classroom Program connects teachers and their students with classes in other countries. Students collaborate on educational projects that expand their understanding of another culture and help them form friendships with their peers abroad. Partner classes interact via teacher-supervised e-mail accounts, private online-forums hosted by PTPI as well as letters and packages exchanged by post. Primary, middle and secondary school classes and youth groups from all countries are welcome to join.
Artistic Ambassador
Established in 1987, the Artistic Ambassador Program is designed for
artists, singers Meet the DiplomatsThis program offers an exciting opportunity for foreign diplomats and embassy staff to travel outside their city of assignment to various parts of the country and to experience local life and culture. The program can include meetings with local officials and media as well as study visits to businesses, factories, farms, universities, etc., all arranged to accommodate the diplomat's professional and personal interest. Accommodations will be with a local family. Through this "grass roots" experience the international representatives will experience firsthand the variety of local culture and the diversity of its people in the true people-to-people atmosphere. In return, the program gives an opportunity to local PTPI chapters to improve their understanding of other societies, including the people, their values, culture and goals. Through contact with sophisticated representatives of other countries, they also gain a broader global perspective of their country’s relations with other countries.
PTPI's Worldwide Conference is held every second year in a different part of the world. The following cities have hosted PTPI's Worldwide Conference in recent years: Baveno, Italy - Kansas City, USA - Hong Kong, China - Chester, UK. During this important event, PTPI members meet each other and have an exceptional opportunity to interact with world leaders.
PTPI's European Conference joins together PTPI members in Europe every year. At this occasion, the European Executive Committee is elected and participants exchange ideas and experiences.
Participating chapters get a chance to
offer conversational language classes for a period of 2-4 weeks. In
return the teachers receive a cultural experience as they visit the
chapter and community. The teachers are either native teachers or
non-native with a good command of English. Participating teachers should
preferably have had teaching experience. The teaching will be focused on
conversational classes, where various topics will be discussed.
At PTPI’s Global Youth Forum, young achievers between the ages of 15 and 18 from around the world, explore various perspectives and skills while also experiencing an exciting new group of diverse people and cultures. A variety of dynamic speakers, interactive workshops and rewarding activities highlight this unique youth conference, which is devoted to key components of the PTPI mission: international understanding, education, leadership and humanitarianism. Delegates will also experience the charm and culture of the host city, which changes with every annual event.
Ambassador Programs offer scientific, technical and professional exchanges that bring delegates together with their overseas counterparts in prearranged activities. Both sides benefit from face-to-face contacts during which information, ideas, and experiences are shared. These exchanges include a variety of fields including medicine, education, social sciences, science and technology, law, arts, agriculture, business, and culture.
People to People International participates in a joint international effort to help Iraqi children. The new initiative is carried out with VFW Foundation and the worldwide shipper, FeDEX in collaboration with Operation Iraqi Children, a grass-roots organization cofounded by actor and director Gary Sinise and Laura Hillenbrand, author of "Seabiscuit: An American Legend".
With Operation Iraqi Children individuals can make a difference. Through the School Supply Kit Program, children can help their Iraqi counterparts by gathering school supplies in school-wide drives. Monetary donations are also encouraged to support the project.
PTPI takes part in the joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State (USDS) coalition of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focusing on the humanitarian removal of landmines. PTPI is committed to all aspects of mine issues: education, removal and aftercare.
